Early in 2013 the Bude Wave Riders Club was set up as a hub for the surfing community of North Cornwall. With a running start of donations, membership, publicity and support the BWRC has gone on to provide regular surf session for local groms’ and parents, social nights, fundraisers and competitions. The regular friday night meets have been a buzz with social connections and personal surfing improvements and the support for BWRC is growing ever stronger with ever wave that is surfed.
Bude has produced a catalogue of fantastic surfers. European and British champions are raised on the plethora of great waves that we have in the area. Now, with the BWRC we hope to raise that bar again and you will be seeing a lot more of Bude potential un-leased on the surfing world!
In a break of usual interclub tradition Bude and it newly formed club have been asked to put on the prestigious event. The event saw great success last year held on Croyde grass, however Bude are relishing the opportunity to not only compete but to put on a show of how to hold and event and to party afterwards! The competition will be held at Widemouth Beach with an after party at Adventure International back in Bude with Paul ‘Baracat’ Barrington, Blue Juice and others spinning plenty of tunes throughout the night.
The British Interclub Surf Competition is a chance for the UK surf communities to put forward their local power houses, super frother’s and classic line up comedians from their much loved surf breaks in a battle against others. Clubs can enter as many teams as they like in the Open, Women’s & Junior divisions, the results of which not only inform the category winners but an overall club champion is decided and the bragging rights are distributed very unequally.
