Surf & Yoga Retreat2019-02-12T14:07:06+00:00

We are very excited to bring a Surfing & Yoga Retreat to Widemouth Bay in Bude, Cornwall

Providing a getaway for those who wish to immerse themselves in a surfing experience, coupled with the benefits of daily yoga in a stunning location resulting in a fantastic sense of relaxation and achievement.

Staying in beautiful accommodation just a stones throw away from the beach, we will provide you with a surf & yoga experience that will help you to relax and unwind from the stresses of everyday life.  Start each day with guided yoga sessions in the house or garden, followed by a light and healthy breakfast.  Feeling energised, it’s time to suit up, head down to the beach and hit the surf with your course surfing instructor.  After riding some epic waves its time for a quick shower before having a brunch and feedback with Freewaves head coach.  The afternoon is free for you to kick back on a sun lounger, read a book, join us on a beach clean or head back in for a swim in the sea… it’s your choice!  As the evening draws in, relax and rejuvenate your body with some more guided yoga on the golden sand of the beach or a quiet spot on the cliffs.  Feeling relaxed you can enjoy an inspiring talk from an ocean environmental enthusiast and a chance to meet a surfboard shaper to see how a surfboard is made.  Eat well throughout your stay with a prepared meal on arrival, breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea and some healthy snacks and juice’s along the way. End your stay with a private chef bbq in the garden with something fizzy!

You don’t need to have any previous surfing or yoga experience to take part in our retreat. We have limited spaces available on the dates available so don’t miss out on this opportunity. Come with a partner, friend, as a group activity or just on your own. Everyone will be made to feel welcome.

Chief Instructor Surfing

The Surfing

With gently breaking waves and a designated surfing area marked out by the RNLI Beach Lifeguards,Widemouth Bay is one of the best places to learn to surf in Cornwall and the UK.

Robin heads up the surf instructor team at Freewave Surf Academy and has been introducing people to this wonderful sport for nearly 20 years. Having an experienced instructor with you in the water is essential for your safety and for your progression. The surfing lessons take place in small group sizes, using great kit and we aim to have everybody up and riding in no time! Surfed before or not at all? No problem, we have you covered.

Don’t just take our word for it, have a look at what other say about their time surfing with us. Robin will be the main point of contact throughout your stay with us.

Anna Young Yoga

The Yoga

Throughout your stay you may wish to take part in the daily yoga sessions to help prepare and relax your body. Surfing is a physically demanding activity and so the yoga sessions are designed to help improve balance, increase flexibility, strengthen core muscles and to restore and revitalise your energy.

Anna is the retreat yoga teacher. She has a passion for introducing and guiding others through the physical and mental aspects of yoga. Anna trained as an Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga teacher in India and has been practising for over 6 years. She is a keen surfer and so understands the links between surfing and yoga.

Start the day with an energising Vinyasa Flow class to prepare you for your surfing lesson. The later sessions will be a slower, more relaxed class that will stretch out those worked arms, shoulders and lower backs from your surfing session. Beginners not to worry as we will guide you through the basics – expect to see a major change in your flexibility by the end of your stay!

All classes will be tailored towards the needs of each individual.
